Abstract
¿Are there reference values for assessing physical f itness in Peruvian schoolchildren?
To answer this question, I accessed the GPT Chat, and received this answer: The following studies were found: A first study, titled: Assessment of physical fit ness in children and adolescents: construction of percentile charts for the central region of Peru, conducted by Bustamante et al.1 on a sample of 7,843 schoolchildren (aged 6 to 17) from the central region of Peru in 2012. A second study, conducted in the same year, titled: Proposed normative values for the assessment of physical fitness in children aged 6 to 12 in Arequipa, Peru.2 However, searching some databases, more studies related to the assessment of physical performance in schoolchildren were found. For example, the study conducted in Puno in 2023 by Fuentes-López et al.3, Physical Self-Concept in Peruvian Adolescent Schoolchildren: Validity, Reliability, and Proposed Percentiles for its Assessment in Secondary Schoolchildren, followed by the study conducted by Sulla-Torres et al.4 on reference values for the 6-minute walk test in a sample of primary and secondary schoolchildren from Arequipa. Finally, the study conducted by Cossio-Bolaños et al.5 in 2025 among primary and secondary schoolchildren, which evaluated the 30-second biceps curl test. In short, it took me about two minutes to search the Chat, but it didn't provide me with the exact information. So, I searched the Scopus and PubMed databases for about six more minutes and found these additional articles. Therefore, I recommend not fully relying on artificial intelligence, as it provides inaccurate information. It is possible that more studies of this nature could be found if you dig deeper and invest a little more time.
