Abstract

Objective: Identify theories regarding management models and their implementation by a group of sports facilities managers.

Methodology: Two studies were carried out. The first investigates the content analysis in the identification of management models and the second, through a survey, a survey to identify their implementation in context.

Results: The main findings from the theoretical point show various models applicable to the context of organizations and the ability of managers to select them properly. From the practical point of view, it was found that the participating managers have precarious and post-graduate professional training, who mainly work in municipal sports facilities and who use different management models or even do not use them, which means that the goals could be diverted and the achievement of the strategic objectives that are designed in this way.

Conclusion: Future lines were generated for the continuing education processes in sports facilities management, a structuring of labor competencies for sports facilities managers and the design of undergraduate curricular programs around this theme.
