Objective: Objective: to compare the subjective perception of the effort planned by the coach with that perceived by the athletes in the youth category of a swimming team in the city of Maringá-Paraná.
Methods: The study sample consisted of 14 swimming athletes of both sexes. They had at least one year of experience and achieving a participation rate in national championships. The PSE was evaluated using the Borg scale from 0 to 10 points. The coach presented the PSE score before training and the athletes reported the PSE 30 minutes after the end of the training session.
Results: The mean age was 15.6 ± 0.64 years, the body mass was 64.74 ± 9.50 kg and the height was 173.5 ± 8.05 cm. Young athletes perceived different values ??of the coach, and after statistical analysis there was a significant difference in 14 sessions. It was also found that at moderate and high intensities, the coach had higher values ??than those reported by the athletes.
Conclusion: The results of the present study indicate that there was a divergence in the PSE values, where the technician overestimates the load at moderate and high intensities.
