Abstract

Objective: To describe the theoretical foundations of PA and the possible uses of pedometers as a way to assess the volume of PA in school and at home.

Methodology: A documentary investigation was carried out on the theoretical aspects of PA in children and adolescents. It was deepened in relation to the evaluation by pedometer. Information from 1981 to 2020 was used to describe the object of study. The database of the United States National Library of Medicine (PubMed) was used to analyze the contents of the study.

Conclusion: The evaluation of PA in children and adolescents must include more than two methods to guarantee measurement consistency. Pedometers are inexpensive and simple to manipulate devices that guarantee the quantification of the AF volume by steps / day
