Recommendations for physical exercise in population with post-COVID-19 diagnosis

Abstract

Objective:  To establish exercise recommendations for patients with post-COVID-19 diagnosis outside the hospital setting. 

 Method:  A literature review was performed, using some guidelines of the PRISMA protocol for systematic reviews and meta-analysis. The search and selection of information included research papers, scientific texts, and information from the last 10 years, among the following databases: PubMed, ScienceDirect, Scopus, Cochrane, Scielo, SpringerLink and Elsevier.

 Results: A total of 15 studies were used in this research, including 7 reviews, 2 consensuses, 3 letters to the editor, 1 experimental study, 1 cohort study and 1 randomized trial.

 Conclusion: A process of exercise programming and planning must be regulated and supervised by an interdisciplinary team of health professionals to optimize the functional capacity of the patient and minimize sequelae such as physical deconditioning and other physiological alterations related to this pathological entity.
