Abstract

Objective: Compare weight and height values with the two growth curves for soccer players in Chile and the CDC Center for Disease Control and Prevention for the general population.

Methodology: A comparative study was carried out. Weight, height and two skin folds (triceps and subscapular) were evaluated. Fat% was calculated. It was compared with the soccer players curve for Chile and with the CDC-2012.

Results: In weight, differences were observed only with the CDC, however, with the chili curve, there were no significant differences (p <0.05). In height, there were no differences with the Chile reference. Differences occur from 13 to 17 years with the CDC-2012 curve (p <0.05).

Conclusion: There were differences in the growth patterns of Chilean soccer players, reflecting a slight delay in physical growth.
